Bob Winn, Director, Healing Spaces of Long Island

Bob has been actively involved as a supporter and volunteer to Healing Spaces since its inception. In 2012, Bob recruited his good buddy John Valente to help out... and together, they played a key role making our Golf Invitational fundraiser a huge success and bringing it to Long Island. In 2013, Bob and Mark met with Dr. Jeffrey Lipton, Director, and Nancy Barbach, Social Worker, at The Pediatric Oncology Group of The Cohen's Children's Hospital at North Shore LIJ - to introduce Healing Spaces of Long Island. They were thrilled and in October, nominated 7 year old Walsonn of Baldwin, who is battling sickle cell anemia, for our first Dream Room makeover on LI.

In 2004, Mark, his 12 year old son Matt and 15 year old daughter Sarah, were touched by a magazine article about a little boy fighting cancer who had received a bedroom makeover to brighten up his young life. Sarah Dumoff, Co-Founder

Making a difference. Serving others. Sarah always knew she had both a calling and duty to simply help. In 2005, she and her brother Matt helped co-found Healing Spaces, an organization dedicated to creating dream bedrooms for children with cancer and blood disorders. She devoted countless hours helping to grow the foundation across New Jersey and New York. In 2009, we expanded to Atlanta creating and mentoring our first SLICE Team – Student Leaders in Community Entrepreneurship – at Emory University.

Lyani Powers - Designer & Dream Maker

Lyani has always had a "want to give back" attitude. While watching CBS News one evening she watched a human interest story about Healing Spaces and a Dream Room makeover project being created on Staten Island for a 5 year-old boy fighting a rare disease. Since Lyani is a professional designer with her own company, Lyani Designs, Healing Spaces was a natural fit and she immediately got involved. As chief designer & dream maker, she gets to meet the families of the sick children and says," I am forever changed".
Born to mixed heritage military parents, “Powerhouse “as she is known to her friends, has lived throughout the United States and abroad. Because of her early exposure to far off lands and cultures, Lyani is able to harness a global perspective in her work, pulling influences and inspiration from almost everywhere.

Certified in Interior Design and Drafting Studies by The Art Institute, American Association of Interior Designers and Certified Green Building, Lyani has studied construction drafting, interior planning, furniture design & restoration, carpentry, and art history. In addition, she is a painter and muralist. Her love of refurbishing salvaged finds and antiques is one of her many superpowers. Lyani isn’t only obsessed with beauty and aesthetics. She also operates with sensitivity to the environment, working as often as possible with eco-friendly products and sustainable materials.

Matt Dumoff, Co-Founder

In 2004, on a plane ride home from Utah, Matt came across an article about a 5 year old boy named John from Michigan. John was battling Leukemia and in order to save his life, he had to give up his left arm. Matt was just returning from a 4 day ski trip with his dad. The thought of having cancer... its affect on this young boy... and his family... really weighed on Matt. The seed was planted on that plane ride, and after he got home, it sprouted into a vision to “Bring Healing to the Home” for children fighting cancer and other serious illnesses from underprivileged families by creating Dream Bedrooms that enhance their spirit and quality of life.

Matt has actively served in the following roles:

Project Management: Lead and organize dream bedroom projects from pursuing application leads to managing the finished product

Customer Relationship Management: Building and maintaining important relationships with corporate sponsors and partners.

Event planning: Work as a member of our annual Golf Outing committee making cold calls to gain sponsorships and networking to recruit foursomes.
